In addition to providing multiple genetic handles that can be used in future studies to target LHb neuron subtypes, our study reveals the a wide range of GPCRs (such as Htr2c, Htr5b, Sstr2, Cnr1, Gpr158, Lpar1, Adcyap1r1; see Figure 2—figure supplement 8) expressed in LHb neurons that could be targeted for treatment of diseases known to effect LHb function such as depression, anxiety, and addiction (Lecca et al., 2014; Proulx et al., 2014). The gene discussed is HTR2C; the disease is major depressive disorder.
