Based on the heatmap analysis of the 12 EV candidate markers, eight mRNAs (MYC, VEGF, CDX2, CD133, CEA, CK19, EpCAM, and CD24) were determined to be more highly expressed in CRC cell lines compared to the normal cell line and were, therefore, chosen for further analysis. The gene discussed is CEACAM5; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
