PRL and Central hypothyroidism: These alterations include acute alterations in the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, antidiuretic hormone regulation, growth hormone (GH) deficiency, disturbances in puberty, central hypothyroidism [hypothyroidism due to insufficient stimulations by thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) of an otherwise normal thyroid gland], and elevated prolactin, which can each be temporary or permanent (12, 13).
