Using stroke-prone renovascular hypertensive rats (RHRSP) to mimic hypertension, Liao et al., reported that dl-NBP treatment after a photochemical reaction-induced focal permanent MCAO model increased the quantity of CD31-positive vessels and upregulated expressions of HIF-1α and VEGF (Liao et al., 2009), which play important roles in angiogenesis, vasculogenesis (Leung et al., 1989), and stroke-induced BBB damage (Sun et al., 2017a; Shen et al., 2018). Here, HIF1A is linked to stroke disorder.
