The activation of the silent information regulator 3 (SIRT3)/superoxide dismutase 2 (SOD2)/FOXO3 (Forkhead box O3)/Atrogin-1 pathway and inhibition of fatty acid synthase (FASN) can lead to the protection of the heart from oxidative stress as well as from the development of human heart failure and left ventricular dysfunction (Galasso et al., 2010; Wang et al., 2018c). Here, SOD2 is linked to heart failure.
