BDNF and Huntington disease: Notably, several studies have shown that overexpression of BDNF to the brain ameliorates HD phenotypes in the R6/1 and R6/2 mouse models (Zuccato et al., 2001, 2008; Gharami et al., 2008; Xie et al., 2010), and, in one study, BDNF overexpression in vivo was found to rescue HD phenotypes in YAC128 mice (Xie et al., 2010).
