Therefore, the expression of such melanocytic markers indicates a CTC subtype with a differentiated phenotype, which also correlates with the pigmented transcriptional melanoma state described recently.27 Other genes, such as the glycoprotein TNC (a promoter of cell invasiveness in melanoma)27,28 and the melanoma-associated cancer testis antigens, MAGEA6 and PRAME were found but not distinctly expressed by this subgroup.
