In most cancer cells, aerobic glycolysis (Warburg effect), or hypoxia adaptation, requires LDHA, and its inactivation using the NADH-competitive inhibitor 3-dihydroxy-6-methyl-7-(phenylmethyl)-4-propylnaphthalene-1-carboxylic acid (FX11; PubChem CID: 10498042), or transcriptional repression, has been shown to cause regression of lymphoma and pancreatic cancer (Fantin et al., 2006; Le et al., 2010).
