Upregulated genes of interest from the comparison of all three infections included: G protein signaling modulator 3 (GPSM3) involved in positive regulation of both cytokine productions related to inflammatory responses and leukocyte chemotaxis; galectin 1 (LGALS1), which is involved in the immunological processes of apoptosis, T-cell co-stimulation, as well as positive regulation of viral entry; and the RNA polymerase II subunit E (POLR2E) involved in the viral process and specifically with the influenza viral RNA transcription and replication pathways within the host [27,28,29]. The gene discussed is LGALS1; the disease is infection.
