We chose to focus on (1) pathways (or, more precisely, pathway-related genes that correspond to a potential drug target) that have an FDA-approved drug (such as palbociclib or auranofin), (2) at least one target of a two-target pair having a known association with the cancer (such as CDK4 in pancreatic cancer, mesothelioma, and HCC), (3) the fact that there is a plausible interaction between genes or gene products, and (4) novel combinations. Here, CDK4 is linked to mesothelioma.
