Differential methylation of genes associated with neuropsychiatric disorders was also observed, including hypomethylation of CSMD2 (−13.75%), a synaptic transmembrane protein involved in development and maintenance of synapses [79], and hypermethylation of ABLIM3 (18.49%), which is involved in axon guidance and has been associated with schizophrenia [80,81]. Here, CSMD2 is linked to schizophrenia.
