The study determined that galectin-9 ELISA had a sensitivity of 94% and a specificity of 93.75% for detection of endometriosis, which indicates soluble galectin-9 may be a better diagnostic biomarker for endometriosis compared to cancer antigen 125 (CA 125), interleukin-6 (Il-6), tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFa) and VEGF [11]. The gene discussed is VEGFA; the disease is endometriosis.
