The PNPLA3 (patatin-like phospholipase domain-containing 3), APOB (apolipoprotein B), MBOAT7 (membrane bound O-acyltransferase domain containing 7), TM6SF2 (transmembrane 6 superfamily member 2), GCKR (glucokinase regulatory protein), and LYPLAL1 (lysophospholipase-like 1) are only some of genetic loci recognized as determinants in the development of NAFLD [57], while lifestyle changes, especially over-nutrition and physical inactivity, are considered main environmental culprits for NAFLD development. Here, LYPLAL1 is linked to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
