As well, it has been shown to be increased in individuals with type 2 diabetes [17] which fits with our data showing that individuals with type 2 diabetes have significantly elevated levels of IL-17 compared to non-diabetic obese people (S1 Fig). Of note, there were no significant differences in weight between people with obesity with and without diabetes. Here, IL17A is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
