Danshensu improved motor dysfunction in the PD animal model and the neuroprotective effects of Danshensu against rotenone toxicity are attributed to the anti-oxidative properties by activating PI3K/AKT/Nrf2 pathway and increasing expression of HO-1, GCLC, and GCLM, at least in part. This evidence concerns the gene HMOX1 and Parkinson disease.
