Since TTBK1 phosphorylates CRMP2 and tau proteins, and pCRMP2 is a component of neurofibrillary tangles in the AD brain [23], we hypothesized that TTBK1 expression or Aβ treatment directly induces physical association of CRMP2 and tau protein in their phosphorylation-dependent manner.
