Although the role of ischemia in the hyperphosphorylation of tau protein is generally complex and requires further research, and tau protein is a relatively undervalued factor in ischemic stroke, we have reason to believe that determining the role of tau protein in cerebral ischemia may help to understand the basis for developing a new target for treatment of ischemic stroke (Table 1).
