Intriguingly, in the surrogate markers misleading group, we found the only three sCJD subjects with negative OM RT-QuIC (#57, #97, and #96); they were 14-3-3 negative in two cases and positive in one case, while they all had tau levels under the diagnostic cut-off of 1300 pg/mL. The gene discussed is MAPT; the disease is ocular melanoma.
