High SELP expression in peripheral blood cells has been investigated as a new risk factor in rheumatoid arthritis [46], and some specific haplotypes of SELP gene have been related to a higher risk for myocardial infarction [47], but no former data of altered SELP expression were available in regard to platelet/MK function in sepsis. The gene discussed is SELP; the disease is myocardial infarction.
