Among these PIN1-targeting miRNAs, the expression of miR-140-5p and miR-874-3p are significantly down-regulated and inversely correlated with PIN1 overexpression in primary human HCC samples, suggesting that the down-regulation of miR-140-5p and miR-874-3p contributes to PIN1 over-expression during hepatocarcinogenesis.
