A recent study by Zheng et al. (2017) has demonstrated that combined treatment of sorafenib with a PIN1 inhibitor, all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) [details will be discussed below], exerts a synergistic effect in inhibiting cell proliferation and xenograft tumor growth in HCC as compared with sorafenib or ATRA alone. The gene discussed is PIN1; the disease is neoplasm.
