Vascular expression of NLRP3 [Arbitrary Units (AU), T1D = 3.8 ± 0.1 vs. control = 0.9 ± 0.2; P < 0.05] (Figure 1A), and caspase-1 [AU, T1D = 3.6 ± 0.5 vs. control = 1.0 ± 0.3; P < 0.05] (Figure 1B) as well as IL-1β activation [AU, T1D = 5.5 ± 2.2 vs. control = 1.4 ± 0.2; P < 0.05] (Figure 1C) were increased in diabetic WT mice, in comparison to control mice. Here, IL1B is linked to type 1 diabetes mellitus.
