FOS and Cachexia: To investigate the involvement of the aIC in processing aversive signals, we monitored Fos expression after intraperitoneal (i.p.)injection of anorexigenic signals, such as lithium chloride (LiCl), which induces nausea and visceral malaise, lipopolysaccharide (LPS), which triggers a wide range of inflammatory and sickness responses, and cis-diaminodichloroplatinum (Cisplatin)32, which is a chemotherapy medication used to treat cancers but induces anorexia and cancer anorexia-cachexia.
