Rev-Erbα, a circadian nuclear receptor encoded by the NR1D1 (nuclear receptor subfamily 1, group D, member 1) gene, is a dominant transcriptional regulatory factor that represses the expression of genes that are involved in various physiological and pathophysiological processes, such as inflammation [8, 9], circadian rhythm [10], neurogenesis [11], and metabolism [8, 12], making it a potential therapeutic target for epilepsies, neurodegenerative diseases, inflammatory diseases, and metabolic disorders. Here, NR1D1 is linked to neurodegenerative disease.
