We systematically searched PubMed and EMBASE (up to July 2019) using keywords “(mRNA modifications OR epitranscriptomics OR N6-methyladenosine modification OR m6A modification OR m6A OR FTO OR Mettl3) AND (bone OR osteoporosis OR bone marrow stem cells OR BMSCs OR bone mineral density OR BMD)” to decipher the role of m6A modification in osteoporosis, which might help further understand the pathogenesis of osteoporosis and provide theoretical basis for potential epigenetic-based therapeutics of osteoporosis. This evidence concerns the gene FTO and osteoporosis.
