These findings indicate that such a frequent appearance of PBG/PPG structures is the most prominent character in the gallbladders of the Sox17+/− neonates, which is consistent with the embryonic cholecystitis, together with ectopic appearance of SOX9-positive cystic duct-like epithelia, in the Sox17+/− gallbladders at late-organogenic stages (Higashiyama et al., 2017).
