Anaemia, which is a condition in which the haemoglobin (Hb) concentration is lower than that required by the body to meet its physiological needs, is a major cause of morbidity and mortality among pregnant women and young children in most Low and Middle Income countries (LMIC), particularly those in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) [1].
