Additional support for this hypothesis comes from the relatively recent identification of a new phenotype of rhinitis—denominated local allergic rhinitis (LAR)—in patients with chronic rhinitis [12–16], characterized by local production of specific IgE with a nasal cellular Th2 immune response to nasal allergen provocation test but with negative skin prick test and undetectable serum IgE. This evidence concerns the gene IGHE and rhinitis.
