The inhibition of ANXA5 deeply affected the expression of key proteins involved in both the integrin (CRKI/II, DOCK180, RAC1) and mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase (MEK)-ERK signaling pathways (p-MEK, p-ERK, c-Myc, MMP-9), indicating that ANXA5 is a potential target for HCC diagnosis and treatment [111]. This evidence concerns the gene MMP9 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
