Alanine‐serine‐cysteine transporter 2 (ASCT2), the membrane‐associated protein, is a broad specificity bidirectional transport of glutamine.2 As the mediator of glutamine uptake and metabolism, ASCT2 is involved in the aetiology of multiple cancers, such as breast cancer, prostate cancer and melanoma. This evidence concerns the gene SLC1A5 and Familial prostate cancer.
