This translational control elevates the levels of HIF‐1α by 40 to 50% during short‐term hypoxia.46 Autophagy has been found to mediate cisplatin resistance under hypoxia in lung cancer cells.34 Similar to our findings, when autophagy was inhibited by 3‐MA or a siRNA targeting an autophagy‐related gene (ATG5), sensitivity to cisplatin increased.
