Other studies have found that PTBP3 is associated with chemoresistance, and the inhibition of PTBP3 in gastric cancer cells induces apoptosis and cell cycle arrest and increases sensitivity to 5‐fluorouracil.39 In gastric cancer, PTBP3 is thought to contribute to metastasis through the alternative splicing of Caveolin 1 (CAV1), an integral membrane protein with two isoforms (CAV1α and CAV1β) that have opposing roles in cell survival.40 In our study, PTBP3 is induced under hypoxia and involved in hypoxia‐induced resistance to gemcitabine in human pancreatic cancer cells. This evidence concerns the gene PTBP3 and pancreatic neoplasm.
