WNT2 and neoplasm: A previous study investigated gene levels in BCCs compared to body surface areas exposed to sun25 and found that the BCCs had an overexpression of WNT2 and PRKAR1B together with an underexpression of GLI3. The Wnt pathway, similar to the Hh pathway, plays a pivotal role in embryonic development25, and overexpression of WNT has been identified in several types of cancers, causing proliferation, migration, and invasion of the tumour cells.
