Overall, all the experiments performed support the concept that autocrine CXCL8-CXCR1/CXCR2 signalling plays a key role in the activation of an aggressive phenotype in glioblastoma cells, this effect is conserved both in U-87MG cell lines and in primary culture isolated from GB patient specimen. The gene discussed is CXCR2; the disease is glioblastoma.
