The percentage of bronchial epithelial cells positively stained for both phosphorylated p38 MAPK and phosphorylated GR at S226 was significantly higher in GINA 3/4 asthma patients compared with healthy controls (p < 0.05 both comparisons; Fig. 7g and h, respectively) and compared with GINA 1 for GR S226 (p < 0.05). The gene discussed is NR3C1; the disease is asthma.
