In females, we also found a borderline significant association of higher plasma IGF1 levels with cardiovascular mortality (0.43, 0.18–1.00; p = 0.05; see Supplemental Table S2, Model 1), but neither a significant association with cancer-related mortality (1.50, 0.45–4.93; p = 0.51; see Supplemental Table S3, Model 1), nor with mortality from miscellaneous causes (0.43, 0.10–1.78; p = 0.24; see Supplemental Table S4, Model 1). This evidence concerns the gene IGF1 and cancer.
