CTLA4 and melanoma: Immune checkpoint inhibitors, including the anti- cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4 (CTLA-4) monoclonal antibody ipilimumab, and more recently the availability of the anti-programmed cell death-1 (PD-1) monoclonal antibodies pembrolizumab and nivolumab, have demonstrated significant improvement in treatment outcomes in melanoma.
