RASSF1 and neoplasm: Interestingly, a role of AKT in the induction of RASSF1A promoter hypermethylation has also been proposed [100], which could constitute an interesting intercalated negative feedback loop, where AKT1 and MST1/2 can mutually inhibit each other, with AKT, in addition, being able to suppress the expression of the MST1/2 activator RASSF1A that is relevant for the pathological silencing of this tumour suppressor.
