Growing gliomas have a hypoxic microenvironment, and HIF‐1α expression has been found to be increased in isocitric dehydrogenase (IDH) mutant gliomas.24 However, other studies have indicated that HIF‐1α expression is either not affected by an IDH mutation or even down‐regulated.25, 26 Research has also shown that higher HIF‐1α expression is associated with a higher degree of tumor malignancy.27 In the present study, we detected HIF‐1α expression at variable levels in different glioma specimens. Here, IDH3A is linked to central nervous system cancer.
