When investigating tertiles of insulin and glucose levels, we found that the high insulin level tertile was associated with a higher frequency of intraplaque hemorrhage (adjusted OR of highest vs lowest tertile: 1.32 (95% CI: 1.01–1.75)) and a lower frequency of lipid core (adjusted OR of highest vs lowest tertile: 0.69 (95% CI: 0.54–0.88)) compared to the low tertile (Fig. 2). This evidence concerns the gene INS and hemorrhage.
