Immunoblot analyses of carnitine palmitoyltransferase I (CPT1), a mitochondrial enzyme that catalyzes the biosynthesis of acyl carnitines by transferring the acyl group of a long-chain fatty acyl-CoA from coenzyme A to l-carnitine [21], demonstrated significantly decreased levels of CPT1 during infection and HFD further affecting the levels (Figure 2(f)).
