Since, it has been shown that phosphorylation of eukaryotic initiation factor 4E (eIF4E) at serine 209 can drive metastasis in different tumor models 25 and regulation of STEAP1 was happening at the translational initiation stage, we next determined if eIF4E dependent mechanism was involved in peritoneal metastasis in gastric cancer patients.
