EPCAM and cancer: Following that approach, we previously reported that these large tdEVs are present in the blood of castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) patients in approximately 20 times higher frequencies compared to CTCs and have a significant association with poor prognosis.14 Here we explore whether the presence of EpCAM+, CK+, DNA−, CD45− tdEVs in metastatic breast cancer (MBC), metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC), and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients is associated with overall survival (OS) and we determine whether or not tdEVs can further improve prognostication of cancer patients.
