CD4 and tuberculosis: To reduce the burden of TB among PLHIV, the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends three interventions: i) intensified TB case finding (ICF); ii) TB prevention using isoniazid preventive therapy (IPT) and early antiretroviral therapy (ART), irrespective of cluster of differentiation 4 (CD4) cell count or clinical staging, and iii) infection control in HIV care facilities and other congregate settings [4,5].
