SET and AL amyloidosis: The histone methyltransferase NSD2 (Nuclear receptor-binding SET Domain 2; also known as MMSET for Multiple Myeloma SET or WHSC1 for Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome Candidate 1) was first identified by its frequent rearrangement with the immunoglobulin locus in multiple myeloma patients (208,209) and, independently, by its role in the Wolf-Hirschhorn malformation syndrome (210,211).
