Figure 3 shows that such a strong negative association is not seen for any of the other asthma loci from Zhu et al. (26). A SNP in the same region near TEX41, rs10193706, was previously highlighted as associated with tobacco use in the subset of UKBB used for the BiLEVE study of COPD (37). In European populations, it is in moderate linkage disequilibrium with rs12617922 (r2 = 0.37), but not associated with self-reported asthma in the full UKBB sample. Here, TEX41 is linked to asthma.
