Liu et al. demonstrated that after knockdown of METTL3 in gastric cancer cells, the level of α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) was significantly reduced, while the expressions of the mesenchymal markers N-cadherin and vimentin were not markedly changed, suggesting that METTL3 silencing partially impairs EMT progression in gastric cancer cells (23). This evidence concerns the gene VIM and gastric cancer.
