Furthermore, our results demonstrated that depletion of SMAD5-AS1 or SMAD5 or overexpression of miR-195 inhibited the proliferation, invasion, migration, EMT and promoted apoptosis in NPC cells, evidenced by decreased protein expression of Vimentin and Bcl-2 (anti-apoptotic genes) but elevated expression of Bax (pro-apoptotic genes) (36). This evidence concerns the gene SMAD5 and nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
