Since oxidative stress plays an important role in the pathophysiology of NAFLD/NASH and oxidized LDL, inducible nitric oxide synthase and NADPH generated oxidative stress have been associated with the severity of NAFLD [39–43], we measured the mRNA expression of Lox1, Inos and Nox2 as candidate biomarkers of oxidative stress. This evidence concerns the gene CYBB and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
