PD-L1 expression has been found to be positive in 5–40% tumor cells such as lung, colon, melanoma, bladder and renal and hepatocellular carcinomas, head and neck cancers, ovarian cancer, and hematologic malignancies (171), inducing elimination of effector cells through interaction of PD-L1 on the surface of cancer cells with PD-1 on the T cells plasma membrane (171–174). Here, CD274 is linked to hepatocellular carcinoma.
