Besides elevated IgE several inflammatory mediators such as nuclear factor-κB (NF- κB) (Huber et al., 2002), interleukins (IL)-4 (Furue et al., 1989) and 6 (Toshitani et al., 1993), and mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) (Pastore et al., 2005) are also known to participate in the pathology of AD.
