INS and Hypoglycemia: We hypothesized that a BGV of <54 mg/dL, which aligns with the current definition of clinically significant hypoglycemia, would capture patients at greatest risk of severe hypoglycemia due to exposure to high-risk conditions (eg, insulin and insulin secretagogue use) while minimizing false-positives (ie, patients with no hypoglycemic risk [NHR] factors or exposure only to conditions or medications expected to pose low-risk of severe hypoglycemia).
